About these listings
Our state guides explain how construction-to-permanent lending works where you’re building and which lenders publish programs there.
Construction loan basics
A construction loan pays for building a home in stages as the work gets done, instead of all at once like a purchase mortgage. Here’s what to expect when you compare construction loan lenders in Florida.
Lenders typically ask for a builder licensed through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and for builder’s risk, windstorm, and (where required) flood coverage to be in place before construction starts. Coastal lots can add steps for permits and insurance, so start those early.
You don’t need everything to get started. The basics in the form are enough for us to connect you.
You apply with a lender, which reviews you, your builder, and your plans. After closing, the lender pays your builder in stages as the work passes inspection. With a construction-to-permanent loan, the same loan becomes your mortgage when the home is finished.
Lenders on our list whose published programs include Florida: TD Bank, Citizens, Truist, Flagstar Bank, U.S. Bank, Waterstone Mortgage, BMO, and Fifth Third Bank. With Florida chosen in Step 1, the cards above show the lenders that list it; open one for program details. Listings are for information only, and each lender makes its own decisions.
A regular mortgage pays for a home that already exists, all at once. A construction loan pays out in stages while the home is built, and the lender looks closely at the builder, the plans, and the finished value.
Many lenders on our list consider second and vacation homes as well as primary homes. Open a lender card above to see what each program lists.
We can’t promise that, and no one honestly can before a lender reviews your file. Each lender decides based on its own guidelines, your finances, the builder, and the appraisal.
We connect you with lenders; we are not a lender. Nothing here is an offer of credit or a promise of approval.
My Construction Path is a construction loan connection service for people building or renovating a home. We publish plain-English guides and a list of lenders whose programs cover new construction and renovation, and we connect you with a lender when you’re ready.
